Cody, there is no link, I got it form someone who is auto trading. I beleive you can get it from Trade Wallstreet. If you want I can send you the excell file, contact me at ak100467@yahoo.com.

I think it would be actually very helpful if you could post this statistics on the website. Many potential subscribers see your performance data and say that it is too good to be true (which is because the numbers are based on the high of the option value). The autotrading results can show what could be actually achieved with very simple exit strategies. I think that 18% average return per trade is still unbelievably good, but it is also realistic (as opposite to 50-60%) and won’t spook people.

This article definitely pertains to the more volatile options which for our customers would be the Core Options Trading Strategy. There are points that I believe are helpful for all investors. Especially the point about not risking your entire account and the reality of how options are valued. I think there is a big difference between Dave stopping out trades and new traders doing the same, particularly with the Core Strategy.

Can you share the link where you are getting these statistics on Trade Wallstreet? I think it would be a good resource for all readers.

Cody,

I’m not sure if this strategy is applicable to the core strategy or the special plays. It might make sense for the core since we are dealing with cheap and volatile expiration week options, but I’m not sure I would agree with you when related to the Special Plays. I also would like to challenge your opinion about setting limit orders compared to trailing stops.

If I understand correctly, the Special Plays autotrading comes with 25% initial stop and 15% trailing stop after the option reaches 15%. Looking at the autotrading results, I can see the following statistics since May:

Total plays: 44
Average return per play: 18.6%.

If someone started with 100k and allocated 10% per play (risking 2.5% of the account), he would have now 217k. That’s 117% return on the total account in 5 months while risking just 2.5% at any given time. Pretty amazing I would say. But it gets more interesting. Only 6 plays gained more than 50% and those plays contribute to 75% of the total gains (88k). If I followed the advice of setting 30-50% limit orders, the results would be still decent but far from spectacular. Setting the limit orders at 30% would reduce the average return per play to less than 7%.

Amen to that. Dave you know that some of my Biggest wins and HomeRuns have come in a crumby market with choppy looking charts. Many times exp week becomes a Dead Cat Bounce week for high flyers that have been beat up already earlier in the week and scaling into my positions 1/3d at a time has been the way to go when the charts aren't looking so bright.
